Mike Storm is a independent recording artist best known for his outspoken style and energetic performances. He has quickly climbed the Hip Hop ranks in his hometown of Los Angeles. He has also made a name for himself internationally, resulting in multiple tours overseas.
Early Life
Born Michael Cardenas on July 18, 1984, in Torrance, California.
Mike was raised by his single mother and frequently moved around southern California. At a young age Mike discovered his fascination of music and entertainment, his mom owned a drum kit, a flying V electric guitar and worked at the World Famous House of Blues. Around 1995 Mike began to rebel and get in trouble which ultimatley lead up to him moving to Michigan to live with his grandmother on a farm. At this time Mike already attended a handful of elemetary schools in the bustling city of Los Angeles. Mike's next stop was his Grandmother's single wide trailer in the small farming community of Vestaburg, Michigan. Mike went to Vestaburg Elementary and Vestaburg Middle School until 1997. He then returned to West Los Angeles where he graduated from Palms Middle School. After a 1 year stay in California, Mike went back to Michigan and attended Vestaburg High School for 9th grade and half of 10th grade when he finally returned back to California to stay in 2000. Mike was then enrolled into Alexander Hamilton High School in the Heart of Los Angeles where he stayed until 2002 when he dropped out his graduating year. After dropping out of high school Mike lived in Van Nuys, CA and began working at a local strip club keeping track of lap dances and eventually becoming a DJ. At this time Mike was 17 years old and thats when he decided he wanted to rap, learn bar structure, and make records.
The Sound Engineer
In 2004 Mike recieved his High School Diploma. He then enrolled into the R.I.T program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. During his studies Mike worked full time for Headstart Entertainment. After graduating in the top 1% of his class Mike landed a internship at Doggystyle Records with Multi-Platinum recording artist Snoop Dogg. Mike stayed at Doggystyle for 16 months recording lots of music including the hit song "Sensual Seduction", before returning to Headstart Entertainment for a Chief Engineer and Studio Manager position. After leaving Headstart Entertainment in 2008 Mike began selling pro audio equipment at Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks, working at strip clubs, and doing freelance engineer work. In 2010 Mike opened his own professional recording facilities in North Hollywood, California until 2012 when Mike closed the studio to focus all of his energy on being a Artist and Performer.
The Recording Artist
In 2003 Mike recorded his first song at a friends recording studio and has since grew into the artist he is today. After working with Snoop and developing his craft even more Mike decided to release his first Mixtape titled "For Promotional Use Only". After releasing that project Mike started to gain a buzz around the city which lead to him signing a digital distribution deal with Snoop Dogg and Empire Distribution. After signing his deal Mike started his own record label titled Rhythm Storm Records LLC in 2013. After starting his label Mike decided to release his first studio album "Tornadoes in L.A.". Mike's hard work and talent did'nt go un-noticed, Mike soon caught the attention of J-Ro from Tha Alkaholiks. After a couple shows in the Los Angeles area J-Ro invited Mike to go on his first out of state tour with King T and Tha Alkaholiks. After the successful tour J-Ro created a new crew of talented individuals called "Antics" and invited Mike to be a part of the team. After joining up with the Antics Mike was invited on another tour, but this time it was to open up for Tha Alkaholiks, Lords of The Underground, and Cali Agents in Europe in 2014. During the tour Mike was noticed and recieved a sponsorship from Smokers Choice Rolling Papers in Copenhagen, Denmark. After the first tour Mike went back to Denmark in June 2014 to represent himself and Smokers Choice at "Distortion", a five day music festival where he performed for over 20,000 people a day with Mike Raw and DJ Phase 5 on the Redbull Stage. Since touring Europe for the second time Mike has been headling local shows and is releasing his second studio album "California Hurricane" in April of 2015.
